I think I have a cunning plan...

DS's hamster now 2 and half years old. Quite grey, bit slow, maybe blind and he sleeps and sleeps and sleeps. Well loved member of the household and lovely character (as much as hamster can have).

Anyway, we are away for half term and have hamster sitter coming in. However I would not be suprised if any day now the hamster shuffles off to hamster heaven. Obviously DS would want to mourn dead hamster and bury him.

If hamster should die whilst away do you think I can ask hamster sitter to pop corpse in Jo Malone box (perfect size, suitable black tissue inside) in freezer for our return? I don't really want dead hamster festering in our absence.

Or is this less of a cunning plan and absolute madness?

I don't know. would it not really freak him out to see a frozen hamster? Maybe the fridge is cool enough?!

What would be the difference between a dead hamster or a frozen hamster?

A shoebox?
How big was the hamster?!

OK - so I am not the only person to have had this plan and it has worked in the past.

Just must remember if he goes to get him out of freezer to bury...

great plan, but for god's sake make sure hamster-sitter knows he sleeps a lot - or you will come back to claw marks on inside of box

Laurie

Think how much damage a hamster could do trapped inside your freezer.

Hamster sitter fully briefed on the very sleepy hamster. If you make noise and blow on him he eventually wakes up.

Laurie - that would be 'Hamster House of Horror', presumably. But thought.
