Kitten Suckling

I've recently got a kitten, who will be 11 weeks old tomorrow.

This week she's starting suckling on me. Her preference is my neck but she will go for any skin she can get.

I honestly hate it. Does anyone have any tips to get her to stop?

Aw she's missing her mum. When she starts it maybe put a bit of fleece blanket in between your skin and her to transition away from you and onto the blanket

She obviously loves you very much. Sorry not helpful.

I can't bear my dog licking me🦆

nancybotwinbloom · 20/11/2020 18:43

Sorry posted too soon! And I don't know where the duck came from.

No my dog licks his own arse. I don't like him licking me. The odd one is fine if he's not just licked his arse but it's not for me. I get it.

When he licks my husbands hand and he lets him it gives me the rage and the vomit.

My husband would prob lick his own arse if he could that would also give the the vomit.

She does love me!

I'll keep offering her something else to suck instead. I tried her on the dogs ear earlier. Neither were impressed.

Poor wee mite, she's missing her mum - she'd normally still be feeding at that age Sad

My kitten has started doing this, but on his own nipple! It's always when he is chilled out and snuggling up with us in the evening. It looks a bit weird though!

My 7 year old still does this if she gets a chance. She was appapparently the runt so probably left her mother too early. Woe betide dh if he is relaxing in bed without a top and she comes across him!

nancybotwinbloom · 20/11/2020 19:34

Oh god she's gorgeous op you are being totally unreasonable!

How cute is she!

madcatladyforever · 20/11/2020 19:34

How sweet, does she leave a little love bite mark?

sapnupuas · 21/11/2020 17:33

Had to get a photo but she is leaving little love bites. Ugh!!🤣🤣

An elderly lady I know had this. It’s was a bit embarrassing to watch really. They suckled on her neck. Left sores. In the end they stopped, but it was probably due to the fact they were too little to leave mum. I seriously seriously doubt they were 8 weeks when they arrived. Even the vet said so.

Takethewinefromtheswine · 21/11/2020 17:43

One of mine does this A LOT. I bought a pack of flannels and have a couple on the sofa at all times so I can turn her to that rather than my clothes.

Ibizafun · 04/12/2020 00:28

She is 100% missing her mum, poor baby. She is gorgeous.

One of my cats and my dog do this! They were both removed from their mother very young. The cat sucks its tail and the dog gets stuck into my sofa blanket, they both knead at the same time. The cat's a bit prone to shagging my discarded clothes now and again Sad

In contrast, the cat who stayed with his mum until 13 weeks doesn't even knead, he's the most even-tempered little cat I've ever met and very self assured. He copied the neurotic one humping my clothes for a few years, but just sort of grew out of it.

Yours might learn to self-soothe with her tail OP, like my cat. Your poor neck!

Hotchocolatewithcream · 10/12/2020 12:43

My cat used to do this as a kitten, very occasionally still does as an adult.
She was taken from her mum very early, she was sold as 8 weeks but the vet placed her nearer 5 - 6 weeks
