Any vets or veterinary nurses around?

My dd would like a veterinary book like James Herriot had in all creatures great and small. She's 11 but very bright and very into animal care and is already quite knowledgable for her age on horses, cats and hamsters. She researches all sorts and is very interested in all aspects of care and makes her own little booklets, leaflets and posters about what she has learnt. Can anyone recommend anything suitable please? As a student nurse I loved the Merck Manual but the veterinary version is expensive especially for the latest edition. It might be far too advanced too but would be something she would dip in and out of between now and university. Any suggestions greatly appreciated.

The BSAVA do several manuals of veterinary care, perhaps look on Amazon or somewhere similar for a second hand one if the newer ones are expensive.

I have a few suggestions Smile:

The Handbook of Veterinary Nursing (i havent got my copy to hand, so can't remember who the author is).

Veterinary Nursing Dictionary (again, i haven't got my copy to hand, but there are a few variations around).

www.worldofbooks.com/en-gb/books/victoria-aspinall/introduction-to-veterinary-anatomy-and-physiology-textbook/9780702029387?gclid=CjwKCAjwlbr8BRA0EiwAnt4MTv0ooOGwBfEMEoLpHBMLuEJYREblRZoy_Yb1zrc-tdWn5dPWVNckshoCeWgQAvD_BwE

And there are also anatomy workbooks available , which you can colour in.

Hope that gives you some ideas Smile

Forgot to add, the veterinary nursing dictionary would teach her some of the terminology used in the veterinary world, and is probably not as heavy going as the veterinary equivalent!

Merck is free online.

Thank you. I've got her the Merck Home Edition. She will read and re-read it knowing her and it's less technical I think. It's a few years away yet but is it possible to do work experience at a vets? She's asked already.
