how do i keep the slugs out of my rabbit's hutch?

every morning the poor rabbit's hutch is covered in slug slime - inside and out, esp in their food bowl. poor rabbits, must be horrid for them, how do i keep the little blighters out? presumably slug pellets and the like are dangerous for rabbits? please help

sorry i have no solutions but have the same problem do you think there is any chance the rabbits might like them ?

maybe lol!

tis annoying having to scrub the slug slime off their food bowl every morning though.... euuugh i hate slugs!

No don't use slug pellets whatever you do. Have you thought about setting beer traps around where the hutch is? You can usually buy them in garden centre type places and the slugs would definately go for them.

Put a ring of sand around the hutch. Slugs and snails won't crawl over sand or fine gravel.

is your hutch on legs?

and does your rabbit ever get let out near the legs?

If yes to legs and no to rabbit going near them then put a ring of pellets round each leg. if that doesn't work, try a beer trap or even leave a plate of rabbit food and leavs near the hutch and see if that distracts them lol!

copper tape round the legs,gives off a natural mild electric current and slugs wont pass over it.builders merchants/hardware stores.

Salt round the legs of the hutch always worked for us...
