I'm just about to change my car and want to get a ford focus hatchback but we are getting a puppy next year-not decided on breed but prob a pointer or that kind of build and size.......so will the boot be big enough-would only be for short journeys as there are many places to walk nearby...
anyone have a focus and a dog?

sammysam - love pointers. Had german shorthaired pointers and lovely lovely dogs.

I have a focus hatchback, and a rather large pram that fits in no problem - the focus has the biggst boot in the hatch range - we looked at golfs, megans, seat leons etc etc etc.

I used to have a pointer - my mum got one from the gun dog rescue society when I was 3 - he was the best dog in the world - so placid - he was a real part of the family. My aunt used to breed both english and german pointers - you really couldnt get a better dog. I am very and I HATE dogs!!!

Have a focus hatchback, 3 kids and a border collie and we manage really well. In fact I pride myself that we don't have a people carrier/land rover type thing....(even though I wouldn't say no if I was given one!!)
Go for it, cheap to run, reliable, modest price, nippy and comfy.

I just remembered - my dog - Roger , used to love cars, if anyone pulled up into the street and left their door open he would jump in and would refuse to get out!!!

We have a focus estate and a pointer, agree on both very good cars and the pointer is the most child friendly dog I have ever known.

geordiemacmummy- Roger sounds lovely!!!
dogs and their funny habits-thats a new one though-i've known ones that chase them but not get in them!!!!

just a thought-what do you do with your pushchair and the dog?
we never use ours as i carry dd but as she gets heavier and we go on long walks i suppose we'll need to take it as well!
can you fit it all in?

also anyone have any advice about pointers or know of a good breeder in the south?
