Moving house (cat question)

I am full of silly questions tonight but those of you who have moved houses do you bother to inform your neighbours (if you think they have cats) that you have a cat too?

My cat as far as I am aware has not caused harm to any other cats, but I have this vision of him unsettling the cats in a new neighbourhood and everyone frowning at me if any howling/hissing goes on for a day or so when then time comes for him to see the outdoors again!

The only time we did move with him, did not have any neighbours around to tell, but just wondered if there is any pet owner etiquette I am unaware of when it comes to moving in somewhere?

Just had a second thought, may have to bring it up somehow if I see them because the cat is singaporean so genetically has half a tail and sometimes people think there is something wrong with him, when there is no need to panic!

We told one neighbour, but only because she was sat on the front step when we first arrived.

Actually we didn't need to tell her. After 1.5 hours in a large cat carrier together, they were making it very clear that they were unhappy so she could hear that we had cats.

Other neighbours did have cats and dogs but we didn't go out of our way to tell people. The territory disputes still go on occasionally now so it's not really been 1-2 days of howling

I did warn the neighbours as ours is a burglar and has nicked entire Sunday roasts before .

Otherwises I wouldn't TBH. They will probably have their curtain twitching spies figure it out anyway. It's always good to arrange to have a large thing that could be a cage delivered and then play lion noises in the garden to give them something to worry about though
