Best tips or advice for new Puppy...Please

We are getting our new puppy (Cavalier KC spaniel) in morning and starting to feel a bit paniced that we are ready and know what to do!!

Has anyone got any advice that was the one thing you were glad you were told or that you've learned and would pass on to someone else??

Thank you! He's settled in brilliantly, he's been so good! (I know, I keep telling myself could just be the honeymoon period)

He wasn't too upset last night. Did the hot water bottle and ticking clock and seemed to really settle him, thanks everyone for the night time advice. I got up at about 4 as I thought I could smell poo! But he hadn't don anything so quickly let him outside, he did a wee and then slept til morning.

He does seem very eager to please with his toilet training so just hoping it keeps up, is quite relentless though isn't it!
