Allergic to our kitten, do I have to let her go?

We just got a kitten but I think I’m allergic, I haven’t stopped sneezing and my eyes are really itchy. My young kids are so excited and happy and it breaks my heart if we have to let her go. Anyone with pet allergy managed to keep their pet? Any advice ?

Im allergic to mine. I take a daily antihistamine if i notice the symptoms start. Keep the cat out of your bedroom and keep on top of the hoovering to minimise hair build up.

Fint know the details but DH mentioned hes hears of a new injection for cat allergy sufferers, apparently the pet is injected?..I know nothing about this, he seems convinced hes heard it recently. Maybe something you can look up?

I was allergic to my kittens too. After a while it wore off as my body got used to them.

A couple of times a year it flares up again and I take antihistamines.

Dd was initially allergic to our kitten and I thought we were going to have to rehome. It wore off within a week, and said kitten is now a cat and usually within 2 feet of DD at any given time.

Give it a bit longer, fingers crossed for you.

How long have you had the kitten?

DH has been allergic to each of our cats initially. Last one it took him 3 months to adjust. That sounds a long time, but she's been here 8 years now.

My advice is keep the house ventilated, don't allow cats upstairs, hoover and damp dust daily and take an anti-histamine. It's not uncommon to react initially, you need time to get used to them.
