Male or female rabbit

Getting first rabbit. How true is it that male rabbits are more docile and easier to handle than females?

I had a single male unneutered (I’m just putting that in there as proof of just how placid he was as it’s often said keeping boy rabbits entire makes them aggressive) rabbit.

He was amazingly placid and gentle and sweet and friendly.
He was a Himalayan x (we think) Vienna blue (two breeds known for being placid)

He was given to us free from an accidental litter where the babies were handled pretty much constantly 24/7 by the owners children.
I think this is the key.

I’d worry less about make/female and more about how have they been raised, have they been handled extremely regularly and used to human touch?

One of each, both neutered. They’re social animals and thrive in pairs.

Find a rescue, adopt an already bonded and neutered pair.

My previous pair the boy was a softy and the girl a bit more standoffish, until she lost her brother and in her old age she chilled right out. I lost him at 12 years old and her at 13 years old. You need to be in it for the long haul.

My current pair are about 3 years old, my boy is curious but doesn't like touching! He'll come for a snack but scarper if you try and touch him. His girlfriend looooves head rubs, she'll smoosh right down for an ear rub. She's also learning so many tricks but has to be watched like a hawk, she's a clever girl and tests all boundaries like a velociraptor.

So yes, go to a rescue! And read up everything here:

Also, DON'T buy a hutch or "rabbit cage", they're too small and rubbish for rabbits.

One of each unless it will be a house rabbit and you are home most of the time
