Does anyone know if nectarine is harmful to dogs?

I know some fruits, especially grapes, are. I realised when dd was part way through her tea that she was throwing chunks of nectarine at the dog, who promptly ate them

ARE grapes harmful to dogs?

My lab loves them

HuwEdwards · 24/09/2007 12:36

and our springer spaniel eats all the windfalls from our (cooking) apple tree.

Nextarine is not harmful, but make sure the dog does not get the stone. Peach/nectarine stones are well recognised as a cause of gastrointestinal blockages in dogs. They don't show up well on xrays either, so can be difficult to diagnose.

Grapes and raisins/sultanas should not be given to dogs. In some individuals they can cause kidney problems

I don't think a pom could swallow a peach/nectarine stone even if he tried very hard, and I don't give dd the stones anyway.

The dog is still in disgrace from the minor surgery required to extract a small bone he found in hedge from his throat

i didn't know that about grapes either, our lab/retriever x used to help herself to the grapevine, and the passion fruit vine..

I've come to the conclusion that my dog will hoover up anything dd drops/throws at him, except banana. It was carrot and broccoli this evening
