Hi, don't suppose anyone can offer any advice my partner rescued a bulldog recently from his "friend" (no longer) as he was stamping on her head and she was pterfied turns out she's pregnant and was mated with another bulldog on the 11th and 12th of April so is due soon, does she need to have an elected c section or do you allow them to give birth naturally? Please help!!

You'd be better off calling your vet!

Call the vet ffs

She needs to see a vet to check her for head injuries, to get an ultrasound and to discuss the birth. Could you ask a local rescue to help (with costs and rehoming puppies)?

Has she had pups before? She needs to be scanned asap, if youve got a singleton, it needs to be c sec, and bulldog births can go wrong VERY quickly so if your not sure what to do speak to the vet about a c sec, bare in mind they cost about 700/800, more if its emergency vets. There is still the risk of having to hand rear, my mum unfortunately lost her dog right at the end of the procedure and had to hand rear 10 pups. Have you got everything you need? Whelping pen, LOTS of old towels etc. If shes due soon get her on a high quality puppy food asap aswell.

Thanks guys, we have contacted at least 4 vets and they all won't do a c section unless emergency, she's booked in to be scanned already she hasn't had pups before, we have a whelping box heat lamp towels and lots of other things

My English bulldog had to give birth naturally 6 weeks ago due to them not doing c section , pups came out fine 1 died at birth and 1 died day after x

Call the vet! Her and the puppies are going to need a lot of care over the next several weeks, both from you and veterinarians. Do you want to keep her?
