Looking for kennel club breeders

Hi I have promised my dd to get a small dog for over 3/4 years now. As I didn’t think we were ready for a dog but now she is almost 14 so I think we can share the responsibilities of a small dog. But whenever I met people with new puppies and asked them where they got their dogs from people just don’t seem want to tell me. I just want to get a dog from a responsible breeder nothing else.
Can someone here be able to advise?

Decide which breeds you would consider. Have a look at the breed clubs information, even ring some listed breeders/owners who do not currently have puppies and ask about life with their dogs, good & bad points. The UK Kennel Club lists breeders with puppies. www.champdogs.co.uk is a site used by KC registered breeders with information, photos, breed history etc.
Do some research, listen to advice & even consider taking on a rescue. Dogs Trust have a lot of info on their website.
Good luck 😊

Decent breeders may have waiting lists, but if they have a good reputation with their breed club and/or with other breeders/owners, it is worth the wait.
