Insurance

I need to insure a dog (7yrs) and 2 cats (8.5yrs) and just done my first quote through Direct Line. £76 per month, Pet Plan seems to be £110 for the three of them.

I am off to get more quotes, but is this normal? This is to cover for ongoing conditions as well, should the need arise. I am not sure what I expected, but not quite this high.

Have you tried Bought by Many?

As your cats are 8½ years then they might count as an older cat for insurance purposes and that drives the premium up too

@dementedpixie, thank you! I've purchased through them now. Still £60 a month, but better than the others. Smile

One I would say to avoid is Insurance Emporium. Had both of my cats insured with them for the last three years and they convinced me to upgrade to include euthanasia and cremation cover. Unfortunately one of our boys had to be put to sleep this morning as he had an aggressive mass on his liver and was in pain - called up the insurance company to be told "no sorry, you're not covered for either because he's over 8 years old and it's an illness". Strangely they didn't bother to explain that when they were selling it to me. 🙄 I'd have understood if it had been a long term illness but he was literally diagnosed this morning after becoming ill yesterday

Oh no, I am so sorry you had to go through that. I’m sure you must be quite distressed today, but surely worth calling them again later in the week and ask for an explanation? Sorry for your loss.
