Approx 13 yr old Herman's and she is suddenly doing lots of digging with her back legs, googled it and thinks she want s to lay eggs. This has been going on for a week or 2. Can't get hold of any more substrate until a week ahead to give her more to dig into and lay eggs. Is it ok to let her loose on the soil border in garden (obviously will keep a watch on her at all times). We've only ever let her on the grass, border seems to be clean, as in no cat poo or anything.

Advice greatly appreciated. Thanks

Yeah. We had one in work recently. A deep bed of soil worked fine

Thank you, yes I am wondering if they have to lay in the environment they are used to? Anyone with more details on it please? Do they ALWAYS lay eggs anyway, I've read that not alway. She seems fine at the moment but I know DCs are bit worried she will be ok.

I'd recommend calling the vet. If she lays her eggs, what's it like? How to watch the babies? Or is it instinct?
