Moved house with cat

We’ve just moved house with our 6 year old rescue cat and he’s struggling.

I’ve made him a safe space in the utility room - he has a nice comfy box, food, water and litter tray. Yesterday evening when we arrived I put him in there.

Last night he cried quite a lot in the night so we let him come in our bedroom where he spent the night. He was fine until the morning when he started crying again.

He’s back in the utility room now where he’s been all day. He hasn’t come out of his box for food or to use the litter tray.

Anything I can do to make him happier? If he cries in the night are we best letting him come into our bedroom?

Cats cry at night when older. Felliway plug ins, sprays, catnip.

Hes stressed with the move. Stop putting him places let him have the run of the house. You cant confine a cat

I would let him have the run of the house, but be careful that he can’t get outside and go missing. When I moved a few years ago I swear my cat cried to the point of tears. He was upset for a few days, then he jumped out of an upstairs window and went missing for a few days 🙁

When he did come back home he loved me even more though and it got him over the moving trauma.
