Need help/advice- indoor cat

Hi, So I have a lovely indoor cat, she's 2 and a half... had her since a kitten and love her so much. The problem is she is used to being around me pretty much most of the time, and she is extremely needy and nervous and gets stressed when left for a longer period of time. I know this because of the mess she will make (tip her food and water over/find clumps of hair everywhere etc).

My partner works long hours and shifts and I will also soon be starting a full time job and again shifts, which means she will be alone most of the time (something she is not used to) she is the only cat we have and due to her breed amongst other things we can't really let her out.

I'm just curious as to what people think the best thing todo here is? It's making me very anxious because I don't want to leave her so much on her own, especially when she's not used to it, close friends have advised me to think about rehoming her as it's unfair on her.

Anyone got any advice? would much appreciate it :)

I would like to add when I got her I never intended to work these hours and this job is kind of unexpected but had to take the opportunity, I think the fact she's had be around alot over the last 2.5 years won't help the situation.

Have you tried zyklene on her food and a pet remedy diffuser. You could also leave Radio 4 on for company when you are out.

I work 12 hour shifts and my pair are fine.

Mine used to be like this and we got her a friend and the needy behaviour completely stopped
