Cut dogs nail too short

My DH has cut our dogs nail too short. It started bleeding a lot. This was a couple of days ago. She is now limping and holding her foot up. Only something though, not all the time. I’m thinking I’ll be taking her to the vets. Has anyone experienced this? If so what was the outcome?

It’s actually really painful for them, a groomer did this to my dog once and put iodine on to help.

I can imagine. How was your dog after?

She was ok after a day or so, but I think it depends how far it’s been clipped, too far can cause quite a bit of damage.

Poor wee soul. You need to take her to the vet so it doesnt get infected - I've done this once but it stopped bleeding within an hour. I couldn't have left her that long without taking her to the vet though if she was obviously in pain.

If its definitely just the claw and no cut on the paw it should heal up. Keep a check for any sign of infection. A bandage or sock might help to protect the sore claw. If worried though take her to the vet.

She stopped bleeding within an hour aswell. Way before an hour. She seems fine except the occasional leg lift. It’s definitely just the claw, we did clean it up and bandage it up after
