Vet prices

My DH cut our dogs nail too short and it bled a lot. This is a couple of days ago. She is now limping and holding her foot up sometimes. Not all the time. I’m thinking I should take her to the vet.

We’ve never had to go to the vet before so is anyone able to give a rough price for anything she might need? Eg consultation, medication, X-ray etc. I know the price varies a lot everywhere but I’m just looking for a rough guide

Consultation for our vets is £37. Do you have insurance? Are you registered at a vets?

Mine is just under £50 for a consultation.

The prices will vary so you should phone them to check if you are worried about cost.

Long term it doesn't sound like you are registered anywhere which is advisable and get insurance. Accidents and illnesses can be very costly. My dog isn't 4 yet and we have claimed almost £5000.

Mine has a very extensive surgery, lots of vets with specialist areas and diagnosis tools hence why I think the prices are more than some other vets.

For insurance there are lots of threads in the doghouse section of mumsnet which details things to look out for so I would have a search on there to help you decide what type of policy and cover to look for.
