RSPCA Home Inspection - what to expect?

Hello

My partner and I are planning on getting two kittens and we went to the RSPCA as they will generally deal with making sure the pets are well and provide services like chipping, neutering, and injections before you get them.

We have been and chosen a couple and now are awaiting the home inspection on Monday. I really don't know what to expect and wondered if anyone had advice on what we should expect?

They will have the option to go out (not right away though) as I live near a lovely area of trees, mud and long grasses but how can I have my home ready for them to be good enough for an inspector?

Any advice could be useful. Thanks for reading

Kind regards

John

I used to do the home checks and they’re really not looking to catch you out - they want to rehome cats! Just that it’s a safe enough road, they’ll have outside access and to chat about your circumstances, i.e. other pets, children etc. Will also advise on animal care as needed. I think the only times I turned people down were one pregnant lady (just until after the baby arrived and to come back if she still wanted to rehome a cat) and one family who wanted a pair of kittens for their very young children and said kittens were to mostly be confined to the garage.

Thank you @Lou573 - its good to hear. Myself and girlfriend have wanted pets for a while and been putting money aside as though we have cats to help see if we could afford before having the cats which will help with getting stuff for when they arrive.

One of us is around pretty much all the time except a few hours on a Friday as both work then but just 7 hours once a week and if we go shopping Smile

Kind Regards

John

You sound like ideal cat owners then, they’ll be chomping at the bit to rehome cats with you.
