Dog Ownership dispute?

Hello

I was wondering if anyone has ever taken their ex to civil court over custody of a dog.

If so, what was the outcome and how was this determined.

Any info is appreciated. Thanks.

My friend and her exH share their dog and decided when and how between them. Both their solicitors advised that the courts only view pets as standard household contents, so to speak, rather than family members. The dog lives with my friend then her exH has him every other weekend plus any holidays he wants to take him on. Sounds weird to some but it works for them.

@jellytot24 thank you so much for your reply. I currently have a similar arrangement with my ex partner, but I'm fearful he is going to try and stop my access to the dog. Do you know if your friend and her ex ended up signing a contract to agree to the terms. Thanks again.

As far as I know they haven't got a formal agreement, other than their 'binding word'. I'm surprised it's still working to be honest, but the dog seems happy and that's the main thing.
I hope you can work it out x
