Bloody Fleas

oh sh1* have tried pretty much everything to get rid but the house is bouncing
aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaargh

the cats have ven had the Frontline treatment but they STILL have them

anybody tried anything radical?

am thinking of moving house

You need to 'fleabomb' your house and give the cats flea treatment at the same time.

If they are in the carpets they will just keep jumping back on ...

When you have got rid of them in your house you need to make sure you give the cats flea treatment EVERY month without fail otherwise you will always have this problem.

Have you sprayed all carpets and soft furnishings and paid particular attention to crevices and around skirting boardrs.

Bear in mind you'll still be seeing fleas jumping up for a while (up to 5 weeks in our case) until all have hatched out of the carpet, come into contact with the spray and been killed.

i have flea bombed every room and vacuumed like a girl posessed. i have flea powdered everything. and vacuumed again
i have washed all the bedlinen and rugs.
i have sprayed the cats and done a spot on treatment. i have banned the cats from all but one room.
dh had combed the cats with a nit comb and killed all the fleas he found there.and then sprayed them again
i have sprayed the furniture again this morning and am about to vacuum.

i have been bitten fron head to foot and am covered in calamine like someone with chickenpox.

Are you using aerosol spray from the Vets ?

I can't remeber the name of the stuff I got and used but it was very effective.

How long have you had the problem ?

Where did you get the Frontline from - are you sure it was the real thing? There are a lot of fakes about since the presciption regulations changed.
You need to use a spray in the house that has a juvenile hormone in it to stop any larval stages developing back into adults as the killing agent in these sprays is only short lived and will only kill the adult stages in most cases. Indorex is a good spray to get from your vet.
Consider using Frontline Combo instead of Frontline - it has the same killing power as Frontline, but also has a flea hormone in it that the pet helps to spread around everywhere it goes. Longer term use of this is a very effective flea prevention. The f/line combo is only available from your vet or via a veterinary prescription though.

i would get the council pest control in to deal with it,sounds harsh but thats what we ahd to do a few years back. we had a long hair male cat who constantly picked up fleas from somewhere! we jsut couldnt get rid,tried frontline,advantage and flea sprays and bombs.
got the council in to give the house the once over with a spray and it done the trick!
