Nice subject.......Cat Litter!!

Even though my 11yr female cat has a cat flap she refuses to wee/poo outside so we've got two litter trays which I loathe and detest. Now I've always used Catsan but am not always impressed with the odour control of it.

Do you use a brand you could recommend? How often do you change it etc?

Many thanks

We use Sainsburys own brand, but not the clumping one as I really don't like the clumping ones.We also use Bob Martins litter freshner too and find the odour very minimal. The litter tray gets changed every day(after it's been used) and even sometimes twice a day,if the cats have been indoors.

our cat does all of her doings in the litter tray. we use the wood pellets. these have a natural pine frangrance, and seems to last up to 3 or 4 days (solids removed of course!). there is a brand cat beauticat, or waitrose, tesco and morrison's do their own.

Thanks for replies - I can't believe you change the litter once/twice a day. It must cost you a small fortune .

No wonder ours smell, there done every other day max

www.pet-supermarket.co.uk is a pretty cheap site I think (well cheap compared to here where I live)

Def agree with the wood pellets, they dont pong, and last really well.

We do get through a fair bit of litter but it starts to smell if I leave it dirty and the wee has the worst smell. We've tried lots of litter including the wooden pellets and didn't find them too bad,but it left quite a bit of sawdust lying around.
The worst litter we've used has to be the Tesco one-yuk!

I used that gel pellet stuff, a bit like the inside of disposable nappies. Even poo doesn't pong quite so badly and it lasts for ages, a month with one cat using it ( sieving out the solids, of course!!).

I've tested every one there is (well not personally) my method now is buy cheap and change it every day. We use Tesco's own brand stuff and change it daily we get through 2 bags a week (3 cats) but it's only £1.20 a bag.
