10 days old and orphaned so we are hand feeding them, they are in foster care with us.

Thanks, I needed that! Xmas Smile

Aww, poor thing. Thankfully these two little cuties are both, as far as we can tell, boars but they are well away from the adult boar we have just in case. We'll be keeping a close eye out for any signs that they are not!
Still trying to get a pic of the black one, he's quite shy.

Here's Caraway, you can't see him well as he always sits on the blue fleece or under the hay.
Caramel started to popcorn this morning!

they seem to be thriving and pop corning ? that speaks volumes Smile, keep up the good work and do update won't you ?

twinguineapigs · 14/12/2019 13:40

Still doing well today...each day is a bonus. They're 12 days old now so only another week of two hourly formula feeds thank goodness.

i've hand reared piggies with varying degrees of sucess, it's so rewarding when you suceed Smile

twinguineapigs · 16/12/2019 05:40

Dare I say it but I think we're winning if their weight gain and increase in size is anything to go by.

it sounds really positive and i'm really happy to hear all is well, you say you're fostering them at the moment but do you think will you keep them ?

twinguineapigs · 16/12/2019 15:56

It's not the plan, no. We're hoping to rehome them in a couple of months whilst they are still cute but not needing extra care.

hope all continues to go well for them, you are doing a great job and hope they go to a good home -hopefully together.

twinguineapigs · 17/12/2019 15:58

We're going to insist that they go together and will looking for a good home without very young children or dogs/cats/rabbits etc. If we can't find what we think is the right home then they will stay with us. We can't really keep them as at the moment they are in a temporary cage in the living room, it's not a good look but we can't put them in with the permanently resident pig. As they are both boars they might fight each other when they go through their 'teenage' years so they might need separating if that happens.

The DCs are, predictably, starting to want to keep them. I am being resolutely firm - outwardly!

Looks like they are going to be OK, they have both doubled their body weight now and are like proper little guinea pigs now instead of bundles of fur.

great update twin i'm really happy to hear all is going well, you're right it wouldbe good if they could stay together,as there hasn't been a female involved they are less likely to fight.
keep up the good work Smile
