Do cats smell of curry?

Yes you've read the title correctly. I'm not looking for one of those "how to keep cats out of my garden answers", I really do mean is it normal for a cat to have an odour like curry?
We live in a very rural location and, rather against my better judgement, I'm a bit of a soft touch, we've taken on a ferral cat as she was wild, small and hungry when it was snowing. The cats charity were "too full" to come and capture it so "would I mind putting food out to keep it going through the harsh weather?" Well needless to say six months later the wild cat has now found her way into my home and sits on my sofa!!!!!
I'm not really a cat person so know very little about them but recently I've noticed this curry type odour where she sits. Is this the cat? or Do I have a secret curry eater in my home?????
Any cat owners????

my cat doesn't really smell like curry

It just seems weird as we don't eat in the living room and we don't eat curry very often but both dh and I have noticed this smell recently and it only seems to be where the cat has sat.

Do you have a curry plant in the garden (I'm not sure of the "proper" name for the plant but it does smell of curry!) -maybe the cat sleeps by it and picks up the smell.

Our cat doesn't really have a smell other than her breath which we call "bin breath"

No, not generally! Are you sure she was a stray? Maybe she house shares and occassionally goes to a house which cooks a lot of Asian food? My cat regularly takes up home next door - I always know he's been there because he stinks of cigs!

I was thinking curry plant too betty.

Heres a curry plant

jenthehen · 20/08/2007 20:14

ooh I never thought of that. It could possibly be the curry plant. Our nearest neighbours have a well stocked cottage garden I shall investigate and find out if they have said plant!!
She's definately not going to any other houses.
thanks mumsnetters
