Bored cat, ideas please?

Any ideas for a bored cat? He is what I would consider a fair weather cat, ie this time of year he is only going outside for the toilet and not much else. He is crying a little more than normal, and think he is generally bored. Any suggestions for good toys please? Thank you

Cat nip toys, mines love them!

Pollaidh · 07/11/2019 22:22

Scrunched up tin foil

HeatedDryer · 07/11/2019 22:51

Mine love charging through a fabric tunnel to chase a toy. For about 2 minutesHmmGrin

Bunnyfuller · 07/11/2019 22:54

PlayStation?!

TheSpottedZebra · 07/11/2019 22:55

A box!
And another box!

Have you a toy on a stick, and a laser pointer?
Has he something to scratch on - a nice tall tree?

TheSpottedZebra · 07/11/2019 22:56

A cat tree, obvs. But a medium sized oak would also suffice.

iknowimcoming · 07/11/2019 22:58

Kong kickeroo toy is my cats fave, stuffed rectangle with a fluffy tail, doesn't look exciting but she loves to kill it every single day (it has catnip in too)

Chocolatecake12 · 07/11/2019 23:03

Get another cat Smile

PickAChew · 07/11/2019 23:05

Surely a bored cat is broken and needs returning to Woollies for a refund?

PickAChew · 07/11/2019 23:06

If the refund somehow isn't forthcoming, head over to reddit and search for r/maru. Fat, lazy cst loves a box.

AutumnRose1 · 07/11/2019 23:07

Bored cats welcome for tea at my place.

WatcherintheRye · 07/11/2019 23:07

My cat's favourite toy is one I made myself by threading a drinking straw on a long piece of string and tying a knot in the end. He will also career around after the reflection of the sun on, say, a watch face, so I might try him with a laser pen one of these days!

housetips · 07/11/2019 23:48

Thanks for the tips. Was thinking about the laser thing. He scratches on a box as doesn't like the garden much which leaves a lot of cardboard across the floor. What about scratching posts do they work?

A toilet roll will give hours of fun.

Deux · 07/11/2019 23:53

Mine love Velcro cable ties with the ends tied together.

Also sweet or crisp wrappers smooshed flat, folded over a few times into a long strip then knotted. I couldn’t understand why they were pawing our floor lamp. Lifted it up and their wrapper toys were there. 😂

bodgeitandscarper · 07/11/2019 23:57

Mine all love an undercover mouse toy that's rechargeable and goes off randomly on a timer.

orangeisnotmycolour · 07/11/2019 23:57

One of mine plays with a pine cone- no idea where he got it from.

Sponge balls the size of table tennis balls, throw it up the stairs and he'll go chasing after it. Bonus is, it'll come roll back down to you

orangeisnotmycolour · 07/11/2019 23:58

Oh, and plastic straws, nice and light to bag with a paw

SleepyKat · 07/11/2019 23:58

Cat videos on YouTube...not videos of cats but videos for cats. My cat will watch for ages.....and then eventually flings himself at the TV.

MrsFoxPlus4Again · 08/11/2019 10:12

Oh my cat watches Parker and lilly on Instagram, it’s other cats. I know how crazy I sound 😂

MrsFoxPlus4Again · 08/11/2019 10:13

Bells drive mines crazy too lol they play fetch with them

BikeRunSki · 08/11/2019 10:14

Another cat

Batqueen · 08/11/2019 10:18

My cat loves all the cheapest stuff;

String (I tie it round my wrist when tidying the house)
Cardboard boxes
Paper piles
The cheapest cat toys from Sainsbury’s (flamingo)
Playing peekaboo (no I’m not crazy Grin much like the ninja cat videos on YouTube)

Beamur · 08/11/2019 15:05

Garden wire twisted into a spiral
Onion skin
Laser pens
Very occasional squirt of catnip on the scratcher
Cats bore of toys very quickly do you need to have a variety and rotate them.

Beamur · 08/11/2019 15:06

There was a great suggestion on MN recently, a shoe box with a few treats in, closed up with a few paw sized holes cut into it.
