Ive got 2 cats, they have just turned 1yr old and have just picked up fleas! we dont have a garden, just a courtyard and they have stil managed to get the bloody things.

Anyway, i have treated them both with frontline which says it kills fleas within 24 hours, i kept them indoors all yesterday but there are still fleas on them crawling around! can you give another treatment before the next one is due in a month if they havenot all cleared up?

Eaugh - sympathy. My cats arrived with fleas when they were kittens and then got them again when we moved into our new house - presumably from the previous owners' cats leaving them in the carpets. I gave them frontline, which worked. Did you get it from the vet or the shops? I don't know if the shop version is as good, though it claims to be and is certainly cheaper.

I would leave it a few days and if they still have live fleas on Monday, suggest you check with your vet before giving another dose as it obviously gets into their system and you don't want two sick o/d'd cats.

You need an environmental treatment as well as the frontline - something like Indorex from the vets. Unless you treat the environment you are only dealing with about 20% of the problem.
Did you spray the frontline or use the spot on one? If spraying you may not have got the coat wet enough.
Contact Merial who make Frontline if you have treated the house and used the spot on, yet still have a problem. They have a good support network for owners.

I haven't treated the house yet, maybe its a good idea but i hate the stuff. have used it before and it stinks and isnt very pleasant to use. i got the frontline from the vets and it was the spot on one so it shold work ok. i have combed them out since and got a lot of flea dirt out of their fur. thanx for your suggestions, i will spray house if they persist!

You will need to spray your house with a spray too. This can be bought from the vet, think it's called staykill. This will last for upto 12 months around the home. It is very strong and smelly, so spray the house then go out for a few hours, come back and air the house. works straight away.
Hoover all skirting boards and cracks etc.

Also put a flea collar inside your hoover bag (also works without a hoover bag) this helps kill any inside your hoover.

Don't worry, they will go!

keep the fleas - get rid of the cat

Thanx Joolstoo but I'd rather keep the cats flea free!!!!
