Found a small bunny in our garden, do we leave it?

We're on a new build estate which backs onto fields. My DH says it looks similar to those he sees walking the dog (he's walking the dog, not the rabbits). The poor thing is sat next to plants in our very small front garden. What do we do? There's a small grass field in front of us but then a quiet road and building site before it's home.
Sorry I realise this thread is not about a pet

Is it a brown rabbit or a pet rabbit?

Aquamarine1029 · 14/05/2019 20:58

Yes, please leave it alone. It's a will animal and nature will take care of itself.

*wild

If it's wild, leave it. If it's a pet I would catch it and knock on doors locally to see if you can find the owner. If not take it to a local rescue centre tomorrow. The owner will be worried and if it's a pet it may not survive the night.

Just googled wild brown rabbit and it looks like the results for the younger ones. We'll leave it then and hope it finds its way.
I already felt guilty watching Watership Down at Christmas, this just backs that up

I once came home to an enormous blank rabbit sitting next to my car. I almost had a heart attack! It was obviously an escapee. I phoned the RSPCA and was In the process of trying to catch him. When his frantic owners saw me and asked If I had a rabbit. His name we bumble and he'd escaped from their house. He was gorgeous!
