Anyone know what this is on my dogs paw?

Hi,

Hopefully pic attached.

Our 3 year old golden retriever gun dog had this growth pop up out of nowhere about 10 days ago. We took him to the vet on Saturday and they took a sample and we are still waiting for results.

The wait is killing me as I've since googled (why?!) and it looks suspiciously like a mast cell tumour .

Has anyone experienced similar and it turned out to be benign? Or just had any advice or comforting words.

My young dog has had a few hysteocytomas. Could it be that? Paws crossed all is fine.
