She's not very keen on animals, hates dogs and cats but i want her to get used to being near animals, at the moment we don't have any pets, we had gold fish but dd1 was'nt intrested, i love animals and would love a pet that dd1 could handle. What animal would be best (not a rabbit as i have an alergy).

rats.

Lovely, affectionate and very intelligent so you can teach them to do tricks and similar.

Also caged (which imo is always a bonus).

I love rat's we had them when i was a child, not sure if dh will allow a rat in the house, would i need more than one or are they ok on their own?

I know people who have had just the one - they need an awful lot of attention then though I think.

It is possible.

Tell your dh he is being rattist

what I meant to say is it is possible but is definately preferrable to get a pair.

We decided on a guinea pig, we went to have a look in the pet shop, i realy wanted a rat but dd1 spoted a guinea pig (the last guinea pig in the shop) i took pitty and now she's curled up in her new hutch with a new bowl and bottle which cost me a bomb but dd1 loves her and has named her Polly.

that sounds good!

I used to keep guinea pigs (had 9 at one point). They are lovely especially when they chatter.

Hope you get on with them.
