Apparently I think as long as it is below the 3rd floor or above the 7th they can survive fine.

When we were looking after my mams cat last year she done the same, i had the windows open but not really wide and she'd squeezed out, i cae in the room and she was standing on the ledge outside and then she jumped, and landed on her feet then hid in the bush outside until we went down to get her.
I got such a shock, i didnt think i was that bad that she thought she had to jump out the window to escape

She has been acting stupid all day. She ran at me for a big hug, usually does not like being picked up like a baby, but this time she did...I think it shocked her that she could do it....the window is now closed !
