Pets in rented accomdation

So we've recently come into the ownership of a dog. We haven't willingly purchased her as we are aware it states no pets within our contract. We have recently had a passing within the family and there is simply no one else with the time (due to long working hours or far too occupied with children and their own pets) to care for her. I'll be honest during the last few weeks it's been a blessing having her as she is Angel and is so well trained, I'll be gutted for her and our family if she was to leave us 😢 obviously emotions are running extremely high already with the sudden and unexpected passing. But does anyone have any advise??

I had a dog when I separated from my ex and couldn't bear to part with her (had been through a very difficult time losing a parent too). i took her into rented accommodation and baccarat i couldn't find anywhere that would allow me to keep pets i didn't tell my landlord about her. I know that's awful but iIwas desperate. She was a well behaved dog and didn't bark or cause damage and there were no problems and the landlord didn't find out. I'm not recommending it but just thinking if you can't find anywhere that allows dogs it would be a pity to put the dog through rehoming when he/ she has just lost their owner and is probably confused anyway (I remember what my parents dog was like when my dad died even though he still had my mum).

You need to talk to your landlord now. It’s much more likely to be an issue if you try to hide things!

Talk to your landlord and ask if you can pay an extra 'pet deposit' if that would help put their mind at ease. Explain the situation upfront and send details of the dog and all her training/vaccination records etc with a photo and see what they say. Good luck.

Yeah she's amazing. I don't actually think she knows how to bark 😅 we've done quite a lot with the house (flooring etc) which we have personally paid for and is definitely something we do not want ruined, as said before she's amazing, no chewing, no indoor toiletinf, she pretty much just sleeps.

Recent correspondence between my letting manager and myself. I take take the view it's the tenant's home they can have pets if they want (but no gorillas).
