Is this a tick on my cat?

Hi all,

I was just stroking my cat when I noticed a tiny lump on her skin. It's around her front armpit (definitely not her nipple) and it's quite dark. I've seen a tick before and this is quite small on her body.

Does anyone else think this is a tick? I don't want to start picking at it and cause more harm.

Thanks,

Yes, I think so. Don't pull it, as the head will break off, leaving the mouth part embedded. See a vet.

Smother in Vaseline and wait for it to suffocate and fall off.

Don't just pull it off.

It's difficult to see from the photo. Even when tiny you can see the legs. Look at it under a magnifying glass if possible. We get loads where we are (no pets, just kids)- needs to be pulled out and disinfected asap (assumIng rules are same for cats as humans )

The Vaseline thing is not recommended.

Buy a Tom O'tick remover, they are cheap, you normally get 2 sizes in the box and are the best, we use one on out Lab. just make sure the head and mouth parts come out as well. Too small to tell from the pic.

Get a tick remover from the pet shop, no need to go to the vet
