Best food to feed underweight old cat?

What's best food please to feed please. Chicken, salmon?? Not sure.... thanks :)

Has it got hyperthyroidism?

Mine ate kitten food most of its final year - and ham.

He's going to have tests for hyperthyroidism, just trying to feed him up a bit, thank you.

Another vote for kitten food, and treats of whatever variety he/she likes, a little and often.

Kitten food, makes kittens grow and adult cats fat.

Coley - the frozen blocks of it microwaved - stinks but they love it
Pilchards in tomato sauce - ditto

and if thyroid is diagnosed, give the pill when they can smell the pilchards and the job is made easier

Mine liked chicken best. Boiled not roasted, which is too rich. I also credit cbd oil with helping him live a full life in his last year.

You can buy Hills a/d from your vet which is good for putting on weight. It's quite expensive though.

TBH old cat went from nearly dead / skeletal
back to glossy and active in about ten days after we got the thyroid pills into him
and I had the "joy" of giving them to him for two and a half years !

Compost cat kept herself going on pilchards for a couple of months as she was too ill and bitey to be given the pills

Hills dry food IS more expensive, but they eat very little of it so it balances out.
