Cat vomiting :(

Hello,

I wondered if I could get some advice/reassurance. My cat has been vomiting today - twice just after drinking water.

She was ok at first but she's quite sleepy now. I've spoken to a vet via phone call who's suggested sips of water, no food for a while etc but I'm so worried I can't sleep :(

I've not had a cat before so I'm not sure if this is a 'normal' thing to happen and I have nothing to compare it to. She has been completely fine up until now.

I had this earlier this year with my cat, she vomited quite a few times over 2-3 days.
I took her to the vet and she gave her an antiemetic injection. It turned out to be a massive hair ball that was stuck and she couldn’t get out. It eventually appeared after 6 days and it stunk

Ours vomit quite often - either to bring up hairballs, or because they've been chewing grass, or sometimes because they've bolted their food.
I think they vomited more in the hot weather.

Is there any risk that she can have been licking/eating something poisonous - floor cleaner / house plant / etc?

Thanks for the reply's. I don't think she's swallowed anything nasty, but she does roam in the garden (and tries her hardest to catch anything that moves, with varying levels of success). I've had a good nose of the neighbours gardens and I can't see anything particularly bad, so I'm just really hoping it's a hairball or something else not too serious.

I'll definitely be taking her for a visit to the vets just to be safe tbh, I love the bones of her and I'd be heartbroken if something happened to her :(
