Cat is drinking a lot of water

My cat is 11 years old. He doesn't seem to be off form or sick. Our pet dog died earlier in the year. They were very close. The cat started looking for more attention looi to snuggle more often.

He recently started drinking a lot of water. Is this something to be worried about?

It could be a sign of a problem with his kidneys. I would definitely take him to the vet for a blood test to check how his kidneys are functioning. Hope he is ok.

My car drinks a lot as well. Has had kidney tests and all is well. I suppose just as some humans drink more than others, cats do too.

My cat started drinking a lot when he had thyroid trouble, I'd say it's worth getting checked out. Fingers crossed it's nothing. Flowers for your dog, you must miss him/her too.

If it's noticeably different to usual I'd get him checked by the vet.

I'd say get it checked for your reassurance but mine are drinking loads more because of this constant hot weather.

Definitely get him checked. Could be diabetes either.

Vet nurse here, when did you first notice the increased thirst? Could be any of the things mentioned above but could also just be this hot weather we are having.
