Hello,
Please help. I have a cat, who has just given birth 8 days ago (we adopted it when pregnant), well she and the kittens are in my room, in a box next to my bed. All going great. The mum cat between feeding and cleaning like to sit on my bed.
Tonight , just as I was about to get in bed, she frantically started smelling my quilt, she was walking / jumping back in fear whilst swatting thin air. I got off the bed and she was still at it. After 5 minutes her kittens started crying so she went to them. As soon as she was finished (when I was in bed) she starting sniffing my quilt and swatting it again.
She has never been like this. Nothing has been in my room as the door is always closed unless I am in the room. Does anyone have any ideas of what is going on?

Would the quilt smell of anything that would threaten her kittens? Dog?

Thanks for replying. No I haven’t come into contact with a dog, just our other cat who she has already been around numerous times today and since coming to us. I’m perplexed! I wonder if it’s the impending rain storm we have predicted for most of the U.K. 😐

Spider?

Might there be a fly in your room? Mine go mad swatting if they see a fly - often a tiny one that I haven't spotted until they do. They're excellent at catching them (and eating them Envy

I was afraid of that so checked and couldn’t see one 😂

Urgh yes mine eat them too 🤢 but they never act like that usually.
She was still scared of my bed this morning 🤷🏻‍♀️ I have changed all the bedding to see if that helps. Perhaps it’s because she is a new mum, we all get a bit strange after no sleep and constant feeds 😁
