Injury to face not healing

5 year old Sid has an injury to the side of face about the size of a 2p. The fur in this area is missing and the injury looks raw and sore.

He doesn't seem in pain and is eating well and going about his business as usual. He doesn't seem to obviously touch the injury and it doesn't bother him; not infected. However a scab forms and gets knocked off somehow, and off we go again.

He's had the injury for about 8 weeks - not sure what caused it. Vet gave him an antibiotic and steroid injection and didn't seem overly concerned although suggested some cats need to be on steroids long term Hmm

Any ideas how I can help his face to heal.

It sounds like it may be an eosinophilic granuloma. You need to return to the vet and ask them to check with some impression smears. If they confirm then steroids for a few weeks will usually sort it then wean off them. They are liable to further lesions longer term though in many cases but often can be off steroids between. If lots come then other treatments may be safer for the long term (but are more expensive)
