Buying lease gold flat, not pets.

Hi, I'm looking to buy a flat. But I just double checked with the estate agent and the management company have a no pet clause. I have a house cat, she sleeps 20 hours a day.... the flat is a duplex penthouse, with carpet on the lower floor so the flat beneath shouldn't be able to hear anything even if she runs around. Was just wondering if anyone else had any experience with such things? Am I likely to get permission to have her? Any advice you can offer would be much appreciated.

I'd imagine that the carpets may be the reason that they don't want pets!

The carpets will be owned by the OP, not the management company.

Frankly, I wouldn't tell them. I had an indoor cat in a leasehold flat with the same condition. Noone cared.

Surely if you own it theres nothing they can do?

Sorry, missed that you were buying it, thought you were renting

It's a leasehold flat so the management company still own the building and obviously have a say. I have asked the agent to ask if there can be an exception made so we shall see. Just wondering if there is anything they can do if I just go ahead and keep her there regardless?

Yes there is - it would be a breach of lease and is enforceable if they so choose. You can always ask though...
