Cat has scabs.

Have the vet tomorrow afternoon before anyone flames.

My cats white, noticed last night she has some scabs around her ears, neck, face. The kind I can feel if I stroke her but they aren’t visible. She doesn’t have fleas Iv checked. Surely I’d see them on a white cat? They get fleaed and wormed at every check up. I have another cat she’s fine. They don’t fight and they don’t go outside.

I’m just sat up worrying about though people on here would have some advice.

It might be ringworm. I think humans can catch it from cats, so wash your hands!

Sounds like ringworm to me too.

It's a fungal infection (I think), it's not any type of worm.

It's a bugger to deal with though so a) wash your hands and b) be prepared for an awful lot of hoovering and cleaning if it is.

I kept my cat in one room for quite a while when he had it (straight after he was adopted from a vet grrrrr) and gutted the house then cleaned his room twice a day. The spores come off and microscopic bastards can then reinfect the cat. He never had it again once we got rid.

The medication was super strong too - couldn't touch it with your skin if you were pregnant. I wasn't but still wore gloves. Felt bad for him. But he was happy when it was gone!

It's probably fleas tbh, you won't necessarily see them. They need monthly treatment and with decent stuff, not the crap most pet shops sell.

She had fleas when we bought her so I know what they look like. She gets treated every 3/4 months at the vets goes for regular check ups as she’s got an issue with her teeth.

Thanks for the advice I locked her in the porch in the meantime to keep her away from the other cat and dogs.

Scabs are usually from fighting other cats and they always attack each other around the face. Mine usually got scabs and sometimes abcesses on the part of the head between the ear and the eye.
This requires the vet to lance the abcess and me to force feed antibiotics to the cat.
There is not much you can do about this but keep an eye on them and maybe keep them in at night.

I just saw you don't let them out. I think the top cat might be bullying the one with the scabs.

Sounds like flea allergy dermatitis to me. My mums tom cat had it and he'd get scabby around the neck/ears etc. He was flead every month with frontline (this was years ago when it still worked) and did end up on steroids for a while. He did have a particularly nasty case though, he was a rescue who had been living as a stray. Such a sweet boy though. We really miss him.

Our 5 cats sometimes have minor fall outs where one gets scratched by another. We also have ne cat who suffers from an allergy problem that affects one ear and requires periodic betnovate drops and she can sometimes scratch the area around her ear causing cuts and scabs

Thought I better update the vet also thinks the other cat has been bullying her just because I don’t see it doesn’t mean it doesn’t happen, they are normally cuddled up on the sofa in the morning but I can hear them running about at night so maybe they are carrying on.
