my ds is desperate for a rabbit/guinea pig. And to date I have been resisting, but i'm a soft touch and I personally love animals and am slowly crumbling.

A friend recently adopted a dog from a local rescue centre, and she said that they are full to capasity with both rabbits and guinea pigs, so my conscience tells me that really I should rescue some rather than buy more from a petshop when there are so many unwanted ones out there iyswim. I'm leaning towards guinea pigs as these appear to be more sociable and less work than rabbits (according to what I've read), but was wondering whether rescued ones are less likely to be tame and if they're adults how likely it would be that we could make them sociable?

any experience? won't be getting anything till we come back off holiday (and I've persuaded dh it's a good idea ) but want to explore all options.
