What breed shall I get? Or shall I get a moggie?

Hi I already have a beautiful dcat she is 8 and the vet tells me she is a black smoke although we got her as a moggie. I would really love another cat and have thought about British blue for their looks and temprement, then someone suggested a Norwegian forest cat or Maine Coone for their looks and laid back nature. Now I'm not adverse to a moggie.

I have money to buy a cat but I don't want a house cat or one that will terrorise dcat, so any ideas or suggestions as to what would Be a good family cat.

I work part time so home a lot I have a DH 2 DC age8 & 10 who love the furry overloads as much as me. Many thanks.

Bit late but i have maine coons. 3 maine coons and 1 moggie. 1 maine coon was a rescue and was badly treated. It took a while but he is friendly now. Hes not overly affectionate but comes to say hello and he hasnt a bad bone in his body. The other 2 i had from kittens and they are irritatingly affectionate and just want to be near you. Very chatty and interactive though and brilliant with my toddler. I have one moggy. Im amazed my toddler knows we have her as she vanishes like lightning when she goes near her. The moggy can be friendly but only briefly and only with me. My maine coons potter round the garden in the summer but they arent true outdoor cats in the way that moggies can be. They like company too much!!

Thank you so much for that, I have a actually just put a deposit on a Maine coon which we collect on Sunday. From what you say, and what I have read I'm so glad to be getting a Maine coon. I do currently have an 8 year old female black smoke so just researching how to introduce the 2 cats.
