Hammy's eye won't open

It seems to be very 'glued' shut. He is very very elderly (about 5) so I don't want to stress him too much, have tried warm water but it won't open. Any suggestions? Would I need to get him to the vet? it may traumatise him somewhat as he's so old. :(

A 5 year old hamster? Are you quite sure about that?

Yes he needs the vet ASAP.

Five? I'd take him to the vet.

5? I doubt it. Either way poor thing is no. His way out so sad.

He won’t be 5. He needs to go to the vet if you can’t manage to open it by bathing it with cool, boiled water.

yes he is five! i can't prove it but that's the age he is. His eye is alot better now.
