I'm sorry to hear you have lost a companion

however is it wise to fill the void by dealing drugs?

Troutpout · 23/04/2007 13:43

Sorry

oh trouptpout
don't take it that way?
I know you are a big mate of MM's so I was presumptious to presume I could make you laugh.
I should be saying sorry

Troutpout · 23/04/2007 13:51

Aww it's ok Suzy
I didn't even like that damn cat...but i've had a rough weekend with ds (who loved her ...much sobbing) and i've just cleaned out all her stuff and it knocked me sideways .It got under my trouty scales a bit.

was she very old?

Troutpout · 23/04/2007 13:57

bless you.
Yes she was and she had a good innings...and her quality of life had gone downhill.

I've stopped wobbling now btw...you can stop patting my back

nice cup of tea and a sponge finger?

are you getting a substitute pet for ds?

I always, foolishly, promised ds1 a puppy for his sixth birthday, and now that day has come (saturday) and we are getting him a small tank of two (very shortlived I trust) hermit crabs. He don't care.

akaJamiesMum · 23/04/2007 14:02

Lost my darling cat a month ago so can sympathise. When your DS feels able to - could you stand making a scrapbook about the cat with him. My DS is only 4 and keeps asking where our cat has gone - hard to explain death to a 4 year old but he's enjoying looking through all the pictures and talking about her. We are putting a little book together between us about her.

Good call...short-lived pets are the way to go i think. Golfish are good.. we have 2 of them...they are like plants...they just sit in the corner looking nice and growing quietly.
He want's a hamster for his birthday in a few weeks time.
mmmmmmm...i'm not sure now

Hamsters live about 2 years tops - AND they spend their evenings and nights going round and round and round on those noisy wheel things. Very sweet (apart from the noisy wheel thingie) and I had one as a child who lived for three years (exceptional apparently) and cried buckets when she died.

suzywong · 23/04/2007 14:08

can't get hamsters over here
for love nor money
weird innit?

Troutpout · 23/04/2007 14:15

oh Gawd jamiesmum...don't say that. Perhaps i need to think of a pet that's entertaining and interesting but doesn't live as long then.
I wonder why not Suzy?...Gerbils?

OP posts:
Troutpout · 23/04/2007 14:16

i mean can you get gerbils?

OP posts:
akaJamiesMum · 23/04/2007 14:59

What about those Seamonkey things? You know - where you buy the little bowl with the eggs - add water and they hatch. Apparently need no (or very little) looking after.

suzywong · 23/04/2007 15:05

I think the authorities are afraid the hamsters will escape, be more effective than agent orange in wreaking havoc on the Ozzie Bush and breed like rabbits and eat the less robust native wildlife.

Or else they are just plain mean.

Troutpout · 23/04/2007 16:05

Ooh at sea monkeys
spawn of the devil
sorry...i meant entertaining and interesting and (above all) cute jamiesmummy

OP posts:
Troutpout · 23/04/2007 16:06

Aah yep Suzy...good point

OP posts:
akaJamiesMum · 23/04/2007 17:24

Nope - not cute - don't own any and never have. Just seen them in toy shops etc and they look a doddle to keep - ie you don't actually have to do anything to them. THE lazy mother's ideal pet - DS might get one for 5th birthday.
