New to the pet section and need some advice please.

10 year old mostly healthy in a bit overweight way cat started coughing yesterday. Or at least we think it's a cough. We thought he was trying to hack up a hairball at first which is uncommon for him but not unheard of.

He keeps suddenly going into this odd cough which produces nothing. Can last from one sec to five secs. Eating and drinking happily, going about his business fine. Just keeps doing this odd cough 🤔 vet appointment booked for tomorrow, but has anyone a cat with a similar past problem?

He seems happy usual self except for these strange episodes 🤔

One of mine does this. I thought she might have feline asthma, so I showed the vet a video and she said it wasn’t. It seems to have decreased in frequency now. So not really sure what it was.

I think wait until you have spoken to your vet. Could be all manner of things - has he been eating grass lately?

Make sure the cat is up to date with worm and flea treatment as worms /eating flea eggs can cause coughing & maybe try to reduce weight of cat slightly
