He has his operation in two weeks and is on pain killers.

Has anyone else had this happen to their dogs? I know it's common in big dogs.

Wondered if there is anything I can do to help his discomfort.........

keep him rested, keep the nati-inflammatories going in, and if he is a bit overwieght you can help by gettng him to lose weight.
Until the op there is not much more you can do.
I think it hurts alot at the begininng and then they seem to adapt and it hurts less.
They still find walking hard becuase the leg doesn't work porperly when the ligament is torn.
Hth and hope you are insured !!

Insurance lapsed two years a go (their error not ours!), and we couldn't get him insured because he was too old (poo!)

£850 it will be! Good job I save!!

Thanks for the advice. He isn't over weight (thank god), he has been really healthy. He's 9. TBH, we have been really lucky with him, because all he's had in 9 years is a yearly booster jab.

He's resting bless him and he's due his tablet it a little while.

He's adapting quite well really. It looks like he's a rabbit when he walks, and he's learnt to poo on three legs!!

Thanks xx

my cat has cruciate problems but hasn't snapped hers yet. Vet recommended glucosamine to ease the problems. Might be too late for him, or might help the other legs. We put everything she needs at easy height so she doesn't have to move as much

Bum re the insurance.
