query - does that anti-scratching spray stuff work ?? Would it be OK to use on leather, does it stain ??

as far as I know, nothing works.

You could try it, it may work on your cat. Also, you could buy a scratching post. A friend's cat only ever scratched their scratching post, however, mine both looked at the scratching post, and scratched the furniture.

Good luck

I have three cats.

The eldest (12) will only scratch the decking outside

The middle (3) likes to try and have a sneaky scrat at the sofa

The youngest (5 months) only uses his scratching post.

What I found helped though was using the water treatment, get a spray bottle and everytime they were scratching something they weren't supposed to, or , jumping on work surfaces, spray them with that, they soon learn.

My cat, Princess Rollos is very careful not to knock anything down when she jumps onto surfaces. She will only scratch her scratching post too. She is nearly 7 and has only broken one thing accidentally which is pretty good going. If you treat them gently as babies they grow up gentle.
