How do you worm your cat?

The forcing them to swallow the tablets doesn't work, she has eaten around the treats and has left the crunched up tablet.

Any ideas?

Try popping it in some Primula on your finger. Cats love Primula!

I put the squirty stuff on him whilst he's eating, he goes chicken oriental and leaves home for three days HTH

She can separate the tablet from the food. She knows! Does the squirty stuff come from the vets as I only saw the stuff that only kills one type of worm!

She is quite elderly but she is getting fussy so she is worse than ever. We could force her to swallow the things as she has always separated it.

Panacur liquid from amazon. Mixed in tuna.

And another parasite one every 3 months or something. Also back of the neck.

One of mine has hers in a pill pouch treat. Her sister I just shove it down her. I used to use Drontal, which was a vet job but swapped to Milbemax. Tiny tablet and beef flavoured. She’s as good as gold with it.

Milbemax tablet. Due to her being so skinny half a tablet does the trick. I do have the administering of tablets down to a fine art after the last 2 and a half years!
To the poster who mentioned Advocate, you do still need to worm.

I have this pill hiding gunk, smells like death and he can find it even when it's in the Tupperware. Wrap it around the pill and my mog wolfs it it one.

Milbemax only needs half a tablet for cats under 4kg. One of mine takes it in a bit of webbox stick but I had to open the mouth of the other to drop it in as he ate the webbox and spat out the bit of tablet

Forgot to tell you my way. Get cat against your boobs (I am small chested so you're not trapping them in your cleavage) head back, pull mouth open and tablet on back of tongue,stroke throat downwards. An extra pair of hands to hold front paws helps .

Crush tablet between two spoons,
mix with a small amount of lik-e-lix,
suck up into a syringe,
Squirt into back of restrained cat's throat.

Or feed with handful of dreamies

Cats don't know that a pill is good for them so they are not going to willingly eat it, just stick liquid wormer and flea treatment on the back of the neck do people still actually try to treat their animals with pills?

I use panacur granules mixed in the food and then once a year the vet gives her a drontal pill when she has her vaccination. Panacur doesn't kill all types of worms though. I don't think the spot on wormers do either.

Advocate covers most worm but not the most important - tapeworm so still need to treat that. Can get programme injection at vets if tablets impossible.

Mine get milbemax for tapeworm which is the one advocate doesn't kill

I leave this for my vet to struggle with then my cat hates her more than me for taking him there

ProseccoMamam - Most over the counter spot-on worming treatments don't treat tapeworms, it's tends to be only tablets that do that. Also, there are still some treatments for animals that only come as tablets - I'm yet to get a course of antibiotics as anything other than a tablet.

Wolfiefan - thanks for mentioning Profender, I'm going to talk to my vet about it, it's the first spot-on one I've seen that does multiple types of worm. Can I be rude and ask how much a prescription was? My cat turns into the devil when you try to get pills into him.

We have 10 cats and 3 cats who can't keep down tablets. We get a paste called Panacur and its great.

I don't actually know! I've just done them but I paid for it and advocate and their jabs and exam all together!

I use spot on stuff from the vets costs a fortune ,he usually goes crazy and sulks for the rest of the day. That reminds me, i must do it this week before he starts throwing up worms on my new carpet.
