I have a 13y/o who grew up with out family cat and has been here since before daughter was born. sadly, she passed away 1 week ago, although it feels like longer. not sure how long we need to wait before getting a new cat. and also worried that the new cat won't be as good. any help?

We had to say goodbye to our much loved cat last month. We were all heartbroken. We are wondering the same thing and are also quite sure that any new cat will never match up to her. We have the added complication of still having a cat and we desperately don't want to upset her with a new arrival (or two) but she is a loner, just likes to live here without interacting at all and we miss our friendly cat. It's a tough decision. I think if we didn't still have a cat we would definitely be approaching the cat charities now.

Similar here. Our girl cat passed away last week and I'm already tentatively thinking of adopting another or even two! I don't think of it as replacing my old girl (she was unique of course) but instead offering a home and plenty of love to the next cat or cats who are meant for us Smile
