Any ideas on how to get a cat to eat - very fussy eater

adopted a cat from RSPCA few years ago, shy timid little thing. Settled in okay, ate normally. However her eating nowadays is so poor. I mean barely a pouch a day. Have bought all differnt types of food to tempt. In desperation took her to vets. She had teeth out and has heart murmor - on tablets. Eating is not getting any better - so thin. Seems okay though in herself.

Any suggestions?

I always whisked up an egg in some special cat milk for my cat when he started to get old - lots of protein but in a form they can take in easily. Also, lack of teeth may make eating difficult for her -have you tried really mushing the cat food down or even blending it? Smells gross but worth it to get them to eat....

Give a cuddle from me - I just love cats!

chicken and rice is a good food for a poory cat. Or if you are really concerned you could ask your vet for some liquid food that you made up with water and squirt down her throat. I had to do that for my cat when he had a sore throat and didn't eat and lost about 4lb and was very skinny.

My cat is a rescue cat and is so fussy! She will only eat Whiskas cat food and only certain flavours and Go Kat biscuits.
When I was away on holiday my sister looked after her and was so worried about her not eating she gave her tuna or chicken which she loved. Have you tried anything like that? I know you can buy cat milk nowadays, made by whiskas, that might tempt her especially as she has had teeth out.

Thanks Nikki76 - me too Will try an egg.

She is not that old really maybe 5/6 years. She will eat tinned tuna, but have to limit as she goes off it. Just offered some roast chicken which she turned her nose up at.

Usually have two sorts of meat on offer plus biscuits - most of which ends up in bin. Have tried leaving one thing for over 24 hours, but she seems to prefer starvation - poor little thing.

so is mine. But she will eat a bit of chicken (although not today!) . She is very skinny. All she will eat is Tesco (and at a push Sainsburys)pouches. I'm not complaining -it's cheap - but looks nice though - lots of gravy, which she licks up first!
She also will eat Iams pouches as a treat.
I saw her eat a mouse in the garden the other day!

Aww! Really hope the egg with cat milk helps...my cat used to love it! Still miss him even though he died over 10 years ago now! Trying to persuade DH to let me get a cat
