Old greyhound suspected snapped ligament

Our lovely old grey has been stumbling a bit on the stairs. She slipped on the laminate flooring about 10 days ago. Her hind legs splayed out Bambi style Sad.
She limped a bit and we did short walks and she seemed to pick up although stiff when getting up from her loooong typical grey siestas! But generally seemed to be recovering.
Saw vet for routine check yesterday who said she would need X-Ray under general anaesthetic due to awkward positioning needed.
She is high risk for not surviving anaesthetic Sad. She hates the vets and had to collect her early due to distress for previous surgery. She also isn't insured due to being an ex-racer (couldn't get it due to unknown exact age, previous conditions etc).
She has pain medication and will be reviewed Saturday.
Feel awful that I didn't get her seen earlier.
Has anyone experienced this and can it be managed in any other way rather than needing investigators requiring anaesthetic? We think she's around 12 or 13 years old and a very loved member of our family.

So sorry to hear that your poor grey is unwell, I have a 6 yr old retired grey and I'd be heartbroken at the thought that she was in pain, please update if you are any further forward. (((((X)))))

Know this is quite old an old thread but has she not got an ID number in her ear? You can track down her age from this number. Also a decent vet will understand the concern about greyhounds and anaesthetic. Hope she's on the mend now.
